How to use Instagram

Instagram is, at its base, a social networking platform, and a very visual one. When you launch the app, you’ll see the main feed of recent postings from the accounts you follow.

There is a menu bar at the bottom that is accessible from anywhere in the app. From left to right, here’s what each button does:

Home: Your main stream, where you can view photographs and videos shared by your friends.

Search and Explore: The magnifying glass icon navigates you to the Explore page, where you can search and view material from accounts you don’t follow but might be interested in.

Reel: This area contains short videos from users you may or may not be following. Swiping your finger from the bottom to the top of the screen will take you to the next video.

Shop: You’ll find a collection of posts that includes products you can buy in this section.

Icon: This symbol takes you to your profile page, where your bio and posts are shown. You may access your settings there as well.

Uploading, editing, and posting photos

To publish a photo or video on the app, tap the huge plus button or icon (located toward the top-right corner of the screen). From there, you may then select photos or videos to share from your phone’s camera roll.
