Jamaicans are descendants of west african slaves sold in the Caribbeans. Most of the original inhabitants of Jamaica were of ghanaian origin especially akan. The Maroons of jamaica are said to have had a qeen called Nana who led a rebellion against the slaves masters in the Caribbeans.Jamaican dialects is therefore mixed with akans words. In jamaica, The biggest town of the maroons is called Accompong which is very close to the Akuapim town, Akropong. The maroons of jamaica also live in the mountainous terrains just as the akans of ghana. Our hospitality towards foreigners, dressing and the hash or voilent (war like nature of the akans) is just like that of the marroons of jamaica.
