The National Identification Authority began Printing the ghana cards in 2010 after the mass registration of 2008/9. The NIA then started a pilot distribution exercise in July 2011.The exercise, which was scheduled to begin from the Greater Accra Region, then to the Ashanti, Central, Western and Eastern regions in that order. Then followed by the Volta, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
After the First phase of distribution in Greater Accra Region, the NIA incurred heavy losses as they had to mobilise people and logistics for the exercise
Subsequently, a review of the exercise resulted in the plan to collaborate with district assemblies, churches, security agencies, etc., who could provide secure environments for the distribution.
The distribution then started again in July 2013, still in greater Accra. They will move to Ashanti, Central, Western and Eastern regions in that order
So the question of when you will get your ghana card is not any moment from now. Hopefully by July next year.
On the other hand, the temporary pin can be used by the individual till the original is given to him/her. The receipt is a prove of registration and it would be requested for during the distribution of the ghana cards in your Area. Thanks.
