Yes there are royal families in Ghana. Ghana is a mulch-ethnic country so there are many ethnic groups in the country with each having their own head and hence their own royal family.

The country itself is democratic and not a monarchy but some royal families are still powerful enough to gain respect by the whole country. The Otumfuo of the Ashanti is the head of the Ashanti royal family which rules on all clans originating from the Ashanti region
