Problem: Error "Display driver [Driver Name Here] stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
Occurs sporadically when trying to play YouTube flash videos in Firefox or Internet Explorer. The video will freeze, and flash green, then the whole screen will flash black before returning and showing the error message from the task bar.
Even happens while the video is paused and loading.
System: Windows Vista 32 bit, tried with generic windows driver "R300", and ATI driver "atikmdag"
The problem started after I lost everything on my hard drive and had to load windows and drivers from scratch.

All drivers and browsers are up to date, as well as windows updates. What fixed it for me is this solution:

Solution:

  1. Download the lasted Adobe Flash Player
  2. After downloaded close all browser windows
  3. Right click the downloaded file "install_flash_player"
  4. Select "Properties"
  5. On the General tab if you see a button that says "Unblock" then click it to unblock the program.
  6. After unblocking, click "Apply", then "OK".
  7. Right click the icon again "install_flash_player" and choose "Run as administrator"
  8. Follow any remaining prompts to install flash.
  9. Open up your browser, go to you tube and try your videos again.
