There is a major war going between The Certificate Nurses and the ministry of health about their career progression.it is very difficult to find a post basic program that accept health assistant certificate. Below are some of the things achieved.
UDS now offers a 3-Year BSc (Midwifery) (for SRNM and CHNM holders) and should have served for at least 3 years
The NMC has now approved the degree program for Enrolled nurses and community health nurses in General Nursing, public health nursing, and Midwifery at UHAS. UHAS is only requesting your ENROLL nursing certificate. You are requested to buy form for access course for 2 months. After the access course and you pass the Exams you shall be admitted into level 200 for your degree program. After completing you shall be writing licensing Exams organised by the nurses and Midwifery council. As a requirement NMC request your transcript from UHAS,admission letter from UHAS,and EN certificate. The issue of Wassce or SSCE result as a requirement no more holds. You must serve at least 3years in the system.
The 2nd issue is that heads of health training institutions and the NMC and the Ministry of health is introducing top up programs which will start any moment from now for a diploma in general nursing.According to our principal its going to be on sandwich basis.
The 3rd issue is that the post basic midwifery will now be awarding diploma certificate which will start soon
We are still trying to get a school that offer post basic courses for certificate nurses.
