ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR TOP-UP PROGRAMMES
General Requirement for all Programmes
Applicants must have at least 5 (five) credits in GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics and at least 6 (six) credits in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects in the relevant areas, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science with an aggregate not exceeding 24. In addition to this general requirement, programme specific requirements are stated below.
A. BSc. Geomatic Engineering
Applicants must have an HND in Surveying with at least a Second Class Lower Division or Diploma in Geodetic/Geomatic Engineering or its equivalent,
B. BSc. Agric Engineering
Applicants must hold at least a Second Class Lower in HND Agric Engineering or its equivalent Diploma certificate.
C. BSc. Business Administration
Applicants must have at least Second Class Lower or its equivalent in business- related areas, such as (Accounting, Secretarial/Management, Purchasing and Supply)
Concentration for the programme is in the following areas:
Human Resource Management
Banking and Finance
Logistics and Supply Chain Management
Candidates shall continue in the areas of specialization in their respective programmes for the Top –ups. Specializations would be mounted in specific centres depending on the qualified applicants.
D. BSc. Computer Engineering
At least Second Class (Lower Division) or better in HND Computer Engineering/Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent diploma certificate.
E. BSc. Construction Technology and Management (CTM)/Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics (QSCE)
Applicants must have obtained second class (Lower Division) or better in HND Building Technology or its equivalent diploma certificate. A sound background in mathematics is required.
F. BSc. Mechanical Engineering
HND with at least Second Class Lower division or its equivalent diploma certificate in any of the following Mechanical Engineering disciplines:
i. Production Engineering
ii. Plant Engineering
iii. Automobile Engineering
iv. Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning
v. Foundry Technology
G. BSc. Statistics
Applicants must hold at least Second Class Lower in HND Statistics or its equivalent diploma certificate.
H. BSc. Computer Science
Applicants with Higher National Diploma or Diploma or its equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Data Processing, Information Systems/Sciences and any area related to any of the listed programmes from an accredited Institution
I. BSc. Actuarial Science
Hold an HND or equivalent Diploma Certificate in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science or Accounting
University graduates holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Science or Statistics
J. BSc. Information Technology
Hold an HND or equivalent Diploma Certificate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Data Processing, Information Systems/Sciences and any area related to any of the listed programmes from an accredited Institution can apply irrespective of age and work experience.
A first degree in any Physical Sciences and Engineering programme. Candidates with ordinary pass would be required to pass an entrance examination and attend oral interview.
Entry Requirements for Post Graduate Programmes
- MSc. Actuarial Sciences
The two-year masters’ degree programme in Actuarial Sciences is open to students with:
A good degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematical Sciences with evidence of mathematical/quantitative ability or
Applicants with at least one level pass of Society of Actuaries (SOA), Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) examinations plus any first degree from an accredited Institution.
- MSc. Development Management
The two-year Masters programme in Development Management is established under the auspices of United Nations Universities (UNU) and implemented by a network of Universities in South Africa, Northern Africa and Europe.
